I gotta admit, when Nesciri suggested
this category I got me to thinking - I am not too bright he he. Then it
hit me like a ton of bricks! And I knew that I had to nominate this story.
Kathleen draws a multi-layered storyline, it involves the riders' past
history, their current lives and the bonds that were formed are now tested.
Their relationships are weighed in face of the hard times that this story
describes - the tension is followed through to the end, never faltering.
There is not one hole in this plot. And it leaves me wondering at the
last scene, not serving me all the answers. Just like I like it.

Wow, this story goes back a really long time.
I remember the first time I met Kirsten, I was staying at her house for
a couple days, and we got to talking about our fan fic, and she told me
she was planning this story. I was excited about it from the very first
moment, and I've loved seeing how she's carried out her original idea (even
if it did take three years!) Kirst took such an original idea and carried
it out perfectly.

Laney had me doubting and eating my nails,
suffering and thinking - how how how? Then she brings it home perfectly.
Bravo!

Balances perfectly on the rim of utter
despair - without ever going over and becoming too hard to handle. It
is a story you read with trepidation - never quite sure how the story
will turn, or how much more pain you can take. And that's what makes it
the perfect plot - one that keeps you glued to the screen. Needing more,
needing to know.

Like a military march,
this fanfic moves at a steady pace,
yet keeps the fearful beat of a soldier's heart and
the anxious worry of a wife at home in the reader's
mind. The story turns and twists, often unexpectedly,
but brings the reader to a definite and satisfying
end.

Absolutely loved this story. Thought Kim did a fantastic
job bringing the Civil War to light. I was so inspired I have bought books
regarding the Americal Civil War to learn more.

This is a classic build of a western story.
And the humor spices it up perfectly.
