First and foremost, special thanks to the following persons: Niko, Tina, Wilhelm (we know you are Jeppe), Alex, Iida, Jessika, Uddin, Kenneth (not H, we've got him covered), DU-flickorna (de heter så!), Matts H, Einar, Angelina and Peter B.
With few exceptions, our evening went surprisingly well. Somehow I knew there would be lots of people, but I was still surprised when I realised how crowded it was. I'd describe the atmosphere as soberly euphoric! (I heard that the pub next door sold quite a few beers during the intermissions. Oh well.)
The biggest miss this evening was that we never got the DJ system working. I thought I'd got everything set up, but it all went wrong. First, we didn't have a DJ mixer, because it had been misplaced. Then, finally, we got one, but then there were problems with the headphone module. We figured it was broken and finally gave up, because the person who knew how to operate the damn thing had already left. It wasn't completely my fault, but I could have checked a few things more thoroughly. I was really sorry, especially because Niko had come all the way from Jakobstad.
On a much more positive note, the performances were amazing. I knew Tina was a good singer, of course. But now, I was COMPLETELY stunned by her voice. In a similar way, Wilhelm B surprised me. I hadn't heard him before we booked him, but it was the most perfect blind-booking ever. As for Alex, I knew he was odd, but I didn't think he would dare to read for about half an hour from his novel, which may actually have been written by some sinister german 19th century vicar, who'd recently lost his faith. And then there was Iida, who was brilliant. She has a perfect voice and I only wish she would write songs.
As for us, I am proud. I hope we made an impression and I hope the weaker points in our set (the out of tune Never land here, the forgotten verse in Praying on a sunny day, the broken string, my hair) didn't distract. I would perhaps say it even if I didn't mean it, but now, it was fun.
