As I'm going to Damascus for a week in March, I've been listening closely to any news reports concerning Syria. Yesterday, I heard that a former vice-president, now living in exile in Paris, urged the opposition groups to mobilize the people of Syria in order to overthrow the ruling Baath government.
“Public opinion is very frustrated and the Syrian people are quite unhappy“
“There is an opposition in Syria which will find its way in leading the people to overthrow [the president Bashar al-Assad].“

But as much as I favour popular revolt against an unjust and undemocratic government, I can't help myself wondering if it couldn't wait a couple of months.
