For your eyes exclusively
It's a lot I'm not revealing here and I realise it must stay that way. One thing with writing these new kinds of internet diaries that is clear is that the line between personal and public material is blurry. It seems many are mixing the genres and it works, of course. But a weblog isn't a diary, obviously. I think it's very hard to write with the notion of being completely open, honest, when you know that somebody else might read it. I don't know if I'm just talking about myself here, but it seems that the meaning of the text changes when the text moves from the personal to the public sphere. It becomes a text written for the public, but dressed in a personal costume. This can be very effective, as honesty and openness are highly regarded qualities. But for me, it's still just a text that I want OTHER people to read, not a text that's for my eyes only.
