30th September: Czechburgh

The number of Czech Penguins have increased over the seasons, it's becoming a real Czech NHL-team. In the playoffs last season the Penguins used 14 European players, 7 of them were czech. The Penguins future also looks very Czech, the new coach (Ivan Hlinka) and Milan Kraft their young hot prospect. With two new successful Czech players in the roster: Roman Simicek and Milan Kraft -- Pittsburgh is now really Czechburgh.

I wonder if this will ever stop -- But it's a strong line-up, and as long as this "Czechish" team works nobody will complain. No doubt that it's a very interesting and dynamic team. With Jagr, Kovalev, Straka, Hrdina and Lang, all very skilled players, it's already known that the Pens have got a good offense.
But there's allways room for improvements. If Hlinka manages to get Milan Kraft to improve, and become "the one" playing along Jagr, we all hope him too be. There's a big chance that the offence will become the leauge's best next season.
But a good team can't only include a lot of skillfull players in today's NHL. It have to have have physical players as well, a good defence and most of all an reliable goaltender, Jean-Sebastian Aubin has now his major chance to show how a good netminder he is.

With one of the NHL's worst powerplays last year, we can only hope that Hlinka can sort it out and the Penguins will surely have a very secure playoffspot.
