The most famous graduate was poet Alexandr Pushkin. Among the numerous other prominent students was Pushkin's class mate, Alexander Gorchakov, who served Alexander II as a councellor in foreign affairs. - At home I look at the portrait of Prince Gorchakov every day as his is one of the six faces around Alexander II in a print from 1877. It is among many mementoes and precious items in a small room I visit daily. - Gorchakov was born in Haapsalu, Estonia. |
