[FLIGHT 5] [SUNDAY] [DOCUMENTS] [STAFF] [SPONSORS] [FIRST PAGE]

Third flight August 22, Friday evening

Decent balloon events can not be organised without sponsors. Sponsors would be disappointed if their interests are not served. Ergo: balloons must launch, fly or land in places where people can see them.

The obvious choice this evening was to have a Hare and Hounds task with Olympus balloon as the Hare. Hare pilot Ilkka Korhonen, a veritable showman, will do his best to fly over Keila and to land near town. We only need to choose the launch field. Wind blows from west where Valdur has secured large fields for our use.

WE STOP COUPLE OF TIMES FOR FRESH WIND READINGS.  THEY ARE IN LINE  WITH FORECASTED WIND.  BOTH PHOTOS JAAKKO VIRTANEN  PILOTS BIG!

WE END UP NEAR LAKE KLOOGA TEN KM FROM KEILA DOWNTOWN. LOTS OF ROOM, VERY FEW SPECTATORS.

HARE PILOT ILKKA KORHONEN, STANDING ON THE BASKET RIM, IS ALMOST READY FOR TAKE-OFF.  TARMO LIEVONEN IN BACKGROUND IS READY TO FOLLOW.  BIGGER

INGA IGAUNE AND GINTAUTAS MOCKAITIS TAKE OFF SIX MINUTES AFTER HARE AT 20:19.

27 MINUTES LATER INGA  IS ABOVE KEILA TOWN HALL. THE STRING OF HOUNDS FOLLOW HARE THAT PASSED THE PLACE THREE MINUTES EARLIER. BIGGER

TARMO LIEVONEN FLIES OVER TARGET BY PALDISKI HIGHWAY AT 20:57. HE HAS THROWN THE WINNING RESULT, ONE AND HALF METERS. HARE BALLOON LIES FLAT ON GRASS.

EIGHT HOUND PILOTS THREW THEIR MARKERS WITHIN 150 METERS FROM TARGET. BIGGER MAP
