Kennel Kilvan : Hamvas pentue

Our fifth mudi litter was born at the end of July. We've chosen the 7-years old Swedish mudi male Jakalmo's Vamos to sire the first Finnish born litter of our Hungarian import bitch Bereki Tariznyas Inci Finci "Manó". The original plan was to use AI, but it came to be that Vamos and his owner travelled to Finland for the natural breeding that took place in the 3rd week of May.

Litter is Mano's third, she's already had two litters in Hungary, and Vamos' second, he has had one litter in Sweden.

Manó's hips were evaluated by Hungarian MKOE as B, she's been eye- and patella examined in Finland. Her eyes are clear and patellas are 1/1. Vamos has been eye- and HD examined in Sweden and patella examined in Finland. His hips are grade B, and eyes and patellas are clear. Manó has been working as a herding dog in a farm before she moved to Finland, she's herding instict tested, and competed in hungarian style herding. Vamos is competing in highest class in obedience in Sweden, and he's passed the MH (mental description) and Korad character test in Sweden.

Both parents are medium sized. Expected puppy colors were black, fakó or white, brown and ash color, and the born puppies were black and ash. There's 3 males and 2 females in the litter, 2 black males and the rest are ash color.

Development

1st week.

Puppies have grown in good, steady pace. Nani, who was smallest at birth, quickly has gained and passed her sister, and is now in same weight group as the medium sized Rio and Rooney. Ronaldo is HUGE, 150 grams heavier than the next one, and his growth is faster than with the rest. It will even up later.

All puppies had double rear dewclaws, and they have been removed. We never crop the front dewclaws, because dogs and mudis in particular mudis use them as "thumbs" and are very handy with them.
