Kopja is our second imported mudi, he came from Hungary in 2004. He's bred by Pál Laszlo. Shortly after importing Pipõ we had already decided the male we wanted a puppy from; Nyírségfia Maci. When puppies were planned for Maci and a B-registered brown female Mokus, we made a reservation for the "best male puppy fo the litter". With the help of Katalin Timar-Geng, Tibor Kiraly and many others Kopja was chosen and shipped to Finland.

Kopja is fakó colored, and to this color category falls almost all red- and cream-colored dogs from off white to deep red. Many fakó dogs tend to have "snow nose", pigmentation of the nose leather may change according to the time of year or hormonal cyckle. Also Kopja's noseleather tends to lighten up, though his pigmentation otherwise in eyes, lips and paws is excellent.

Kopja has been to 7 shows, and finished his Finnish CH title in June 2006. He's been patella- and eye checked, and will be taken to HD examination later this year. Kopja also has passed the Finnish Tempperament Test. Kopja is 48 cm high and weights 14 kg.

Kopja's mother Mokus is B-registered, meaning her parents are unknown (not registered), but she's been given a pedigree after a breeding exam, where her appearance was judged and compared to the standard. This dog of unknown lineage was found mudi-like, and given a pedigree.

B-register is one way of keeping the genetic variety in the breed; one of the main concerns of many modern dog breeds is the high inbreeding coefficents and low genetic variance. Mudi is still very vital breed because of the high genetic variance within the breed; the positive effect this variance has is the vitality and health, the down side (if it's concidered as such) is the variety of the size and shape and other qualities of the dogs. There's still many different types of mudis, and the breed is not as homogenous as many of the modern breeds.

Kopja became father first time in February 2007. He produced 4 puppies in Saunatytön kennel; 2 black males, 1 brown male and 1 brown female. In 2007 he had one puppy in our kennel. Currently we've decided to wait until the puppies are older before thinking of using him for breeding again.
