Kennel Kilvan : R-litter

To widen our Scandinavian gene pool, we decided to use two sires for one litter. The parents - all three of them, Pipõ and the males - were DNA-profiled. The puppies were ID-marked and DNA-tested to determine which of the sires is each puppy's father. The puppies are registered into two separate litters, sharing same dam and same birth date, but being just half siblings. From the 6 produced puppies, one was Kopja's, and five Mocca's.

Double matings are accepted method of breeding by the biggest kennel organizations, the FCI and AKC.

Kilvan Rapli, aka Tossu, lives in Turku. Tossu's family also has a papillon female. Tossui's hobbies are agility and obedience.

Tossu is very likely so called "hamvas-fakó". His phenotype is fakó, but he has also herited ash-gene from both of his parents, so his genotype is ddee. Tossu's lip- and nosepigment is slategray, and his eyes were blue, and slowly changing to amber-yellow.

Hamvas-fakó and brown-fakó puppies can be born when both parents carry ash/brown and fakó genes. Ash-fakó and brown-fakó mudis has been born in Hungary, but Tossu is quite likely first hamvas-fakó born outside Hungary.
